Seekonk School Committee Member Resigns

David Quinn is leaving the town.

Seekonk School Committee member David Quinn resigned Tuesday afternoon. According to his resignation statement submitted to the Town Clerk's Office, he is leaving Seekonk.

"The reason for my resignation is that I am relocating my residence out of the town of Seekonk," Quinn wrote. "I believe I no longer qualify to sit as a member of said school committee."

A Seekonk native, Quinn earned a committee seat in an uncontested election in 2010. His replacement, who will serve the rest of Quinn's term through April, will be appointed by the school committee and board of selectmen.

The April election will include a contest for Quinn's former seat and the one occupied by Fran Creamer. She has not announced whether she plans to run for a new term. Television talk show host Jeffrey Starr Mararian said Monday that he would run in the school committee race. William Woods pulled papers for a potential run on Tuesday.

I wish certain members of the Attleboro School Committee would discover the same thing. We certainly deserve better. But that is wht elections are for as well.

Sounds to me like Jeffery had an in to this announcement. All of a sudden on Monday he decided to run for school committee instead of selectman. No tricks up his sleeve. Strictly off the cuff. Yea OK It will be interesting to see just who is appointed to fill the rest of Mr. Quinns term.
