Union Cycle in Attleboro was this week's pick in Attleboro-Seekonk Patch's Readers' Choice poll. It received the most votes for favorite place to purchase sporting goods in the area.
Owned by bicycle enthusiast Rick Desmarais, the shop is located at 77 Pleasant St. A variety of bicycles types are sold and repaired there. Bicycle accessories and skateboards are also available.
"Great business, great people," two Attleboro-Seekonk Patch readers wrote on the shop's business listing page.
Desmarais is also involved in the community. He founded Union Velo Cycling Club in 1988 to promote the sport in the community.
"We give local riders a place to go for riding and racing," Desmarais told Attleboro-Seekonk Patch in December. "We help develop and train riders. We also try to promote the sport of cycling to be healthier and to develop the kids in the sport."
Union Cycle is open from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Mondays, Wednesdays and Saturdays; 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. on Tuesdays and 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Fridays. It is closed on Sundays.
