I like polls like these because they bring awareness of and support to local businesses. It strengthens local businesses in that it lets competitors know how people feel about their business and their competition (even if polls can be padded with friends voting for a place based on requests from friends.)
The best thing you can do for your community is to support local businesses. They help your neighbors who run and work in the business and help your community.
