Lt. Gov. Murray Visiting Attleboro, Seekonk
Here is a look at what's happening in Attleboro and Seekonk.
1. Massachusetts Lt. Gov. Tim Murray will be in Attleboro and Seekonk today. At 12 p.m., he will be at Historic Jacob Hill Inn (120 Jacob St.), which is celebrating its 290th anniversary. At 1 p.m., he will be at the Attleboro Public Library (74 North Main St.) to participate in a roundtable with Mayor Kevin Dumas and Veterans Agent Carl Bradshaw on veterans issues. He will promote the website www.MassVetsAdvisor.org during the discussion.
3. Attleboro resident Brittany Clement is among 20 area finalists to become a Rev Girl, the promotional team for the New England Revolution. Tonight, a group of judges will select 10 of the 20 women to advance to the next round. Four women will make the team.
4. If you or your child need to earn community service hours, there is a good opportunity with the Seekonk Parks & Recreation Department. It needs student volunteers for the "Something to Do Saturday" program. This is a drop-in art program at Hurley Middle School from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. If you are interested or know somebody who is, contact Bridget Garrity at 508-944-4226.
5. It is probably raining as you read this, and the showers are expected to continue until about 10 a.m., according to the National Weather Service. The strong wind will continue throughout the day, and could reach up to 26 mph, with gusts up to 50 mph. The daytime high is expected to reach 58, but the temperature is expected to drop 10 degrees by 4 p.m. At night, look for partly cloudy skies with a low near 24. A west wind is expected to travel up to 16 mph, with gusts up to 33 mph.
