Locals Compete in Boston Marathon
Seekonk resident Kara A. Salit was the top runner in the area, finishing the 26.2-mile course in just over four hours.
Thirteen runners from Attleboro and one from Seekonk braved the unusual April heat and intense pain to start and finish the Boston Marathon on Monday, according to the results on the event's website.
Four locals had signed up for the race, but did not compete, perhaps taking up the Boston Athletic Association's offer to defer their entry spots to next year. Two others started the race and did not finish the 26.2-mile course.
Seekonk resident Kara A. Salit, 47, was the top finisher in the area. She completed the race in 4 hours, 3 minutes and 7 seconds. Attleboro's fastest runner was 41-year-old David Concannon, who finished in 4:10:46.
