Kerry, Vicki Kennedy Back Markey for Senate

The incumbent senator and widow of the late Sen. Kennedy both spoke positively about Ed Markey's candidacy on Friday.

A day after announcing his intention to run for U.S. Senate, Congressman Ed Markey received the backing of some big names in the Democratic party, including the incumbent senator, Friday.

Senator John Kerry, Vicki Kennedy, widow of the late Sen. Edward Kennedy, and the Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee all lined up behind Markey, reported the Washington Post.

”Ed’s one of the most experienced and capable legislators in the entire Congress and it would be an almost unprecedented occasion for such an accomplished legislator to join the Senate able to hit the ground running on every issue of importance to Massachusetts,” said Kerry in a statement.

Kennedy also spoke positively about Markey.

“I believe that Congressman Ed Markey is the best person to continue in the tradition of John Kerry,” she said. “He will be a superb senator for Massachusetts.”

No other Democrats have officially announced a run for the Senate. Congressmen Stephen Lynch and Michael Capuano have both been listed as possible candidates.

Why do we keep letting the same people run they already have destroyed our credit and spending more money than we have.

...“I believe that Congressman Ed Markey is the best person to continue in the tradition of John Kerry,” ...

Not sure if that's an endorsement, or not. Just exactly what is the 'tradition' of John Kerry? If not for the media, I doubt that Massachusetts would even realize he was gone.

Massachusetts:

Stop sending the same liberal saps to represent you.

Does anyone remember "Waxman-Markey"? Cap and Trade is already putting a Cap on Trade in Europe, yet Markey with his partner in enviromental extremism Henry Waxman insisted on pushing this bill through Congress, ignoring high unemployment and a sluggish economy in 2009.

Say "No!" to Markey. Say "Yes!" to Scott Brown for US Senate.

Hate is so becoming Sharon. You must be one heck of an Obama Lemming. Follow every word he says as if it were gospel. Oh yeah, I forgot, he is the Messiah (in his own mind). I wish people could be open minded on issues. Is Brown flawed, yeah. The only politician, in history, who isn't flawed is the Commander in Chief. From your comments, you also must not be flawed. Me, I've gots so many flaws I should be a candidate for "Physician Assisted Death with Dignity".

I totally agree Amy, but Scott is not the answer. Still early. Someone of value may still step up.

And what authority is Vicki Kennedy??? She was married to Ted "I'll have another chivas" Kennedy. Wow what an endorsement! I agree with Amy - it would be tough for Brown. As an independent I would take Lynch over Markey and maybe over Brown as well
