Heroux Qualifies for Ballot

Democrat Paul Heroux is running for the 2nd Bristol District seat in the state House of Representatives, currently held by George T. Ross.

Attleboro Democrat Paul Heroux is officially in the contest for the 2nd Bristol District seat in the state House of Representatives. He qualified for the ballot late last week after a petition with more than 200 signatures from local registered voters was certified, a spokesman from the Secretary of State's office said.

The representative of the district, which includes all of Attleboro except for Precinct B of Ward 3, is former Attleboro City Councilor George T. Ross, who is running for a second two-year term.

Heroux, the former director of research and planning for the Massachusetts Department of Correction, will face fellow Democrat Steve Kane, a local businessman, in the primary election on Sept. 6.

At his , Heroux told Attleboro-Seekonk Patch that he was running because "the citizens of Attleboro need representation in a way that they are not currently getting."

"What we need is somebody who will aggressively fight for jobs," Heroux said. "We need somebody who is going to aggressively fight to keep . We need somebody who is going to look aggressively at where our state programs are being wasted and whether our programs work or not."
