Final Focus Group on Attleboro Superintendent Search Tonight
The session is open to all residents, even those without children in the school district.
If you have a strong opinion on what the Attleboro school district needs in a new superintendent, or even if you just want to have some input on the search, then you should attend the final focus group session tonight at City Hall. It will take place at 6:30 p.m. and is expected to last an hour. The session is open to all residents, including those without children in the school district.
In addition to attending the focus group, residents can take an online survey that can be found here.
The school district is expected to advertise the job opening beginning next month. A tentative schedule calls for finalists for the position to be announced in March and an appointment of the new superintendent to be made April 15. The person would begin work July 1.

The survey is a joke. One questionsPedagogical excellence? Really...Really??? I'm a past English major and it took me a few minutes to figure that one out. I'd bet dollars to doughnuts the people who wrote the survey were the same people who are pushing the current Super out.
Tell me again why a superintendent who demanded excellence from staff and students is being forced out Oh that's right. Her management style didn't pander to the status quo. The same status quo who led the system to mediocrity likely loss of accreditation at AHS.
Dr. Durkin deserves better treatment that she's received I tell you as a parent of a student in Attleboro public schools I think we are better off with the current administration than branching off into the unknown and risking going backward and not forward. It should be very interesting to evaluate where we are in five years.
For those on the fence . Look objectively at the numbers and compare where the school system is now to where it was when Dr. Durkin came on board.
