Councilor Plans Formal Senate Run Announcement

Sara-Lynn Reynolds will make the announcement Saturday at the Attleboro Democratic City Committee's brunch event.

Attleboro City Councilor Sara-Lynn Reynolds confirmed to the local media last month that she will run next year for the state Senate seat currently occupied by Richard Ross, and she plans to make a formal announcement of her candidacy Saturday.

Reynolds, a Democrat, wrote in a press release the announcement will come at the Attleboro Democratic City Committee's Unity Brunch, which will take place at Murray Unitarian Universalist Church. The event, which will feature U.S. Rep. Joe Kennedy III and several other speakers, is scheduled to take place from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m.

"I believe my life experience has prepared me to be a strong advocate for the people, for jobs and for the crucial funding needed for a 21st century education, as well as being an avid supporter for the diverse healthcare needs of our state's population, including senior healthcare needs across the district," said Reynolds, according to the press release.

The district, which Ross has represented as a Republican since 2010, includes Attleboro Wards 1, 2 and 3A, North Attleboro, Wrentham, Millis, Norfolk, Plainville, Sherborn and Wayland as well as portions of Franklin, Needham, Wellesley and Natick.

"I am the best candidate to represent this Senate district because I have first-hand knowledge of the needs faced by many of the people living here and in the state," Reynolds said. "I have had to overcome many of the same personal and professional challenges faced by those I would be serving. My life very much resembles theirs in one way or another ... they could count on me to be tireless in finding opportunities to 'better' their lives."

Murray Universalist Church is located at 505 North Main St. The brunch costs $20 ($15 for students). Tickets can be purchased at the door.

Really?? You can't get out of your own way chairing the Personnel & Human Services sub committee, btw, a lay-up assignment for a first term councilor, how in the name of all that is holy is SLR going to handle a state Senate seat? Good Luck, you're going to need buckets full to pull this off.
ps. thanks for getting off the council I so enjoy your stumble & bumble sub committee routine...it's TV gold!!

Bill K. Now that you've had your little negativity/hate rant, I hope you feel better. You may have to lie down for being so hot-and-bothered.

Sara-Lynn Reynalds is a terrific and effective public servant and I can't wait until she is a State Senator. She has my full confidence and Sara-Lynn, I wish you well.

I never heard of her.
Pretty risky to announce her candidacy at a Church.

sounds like a good idea, what with all those top Democrats and potential volunteers together in one place, already feeling lots of enthusiasm

Deb of see-attleboro has summed it up perfectly: "I never heard of her" Neither has 99% of the district hes hoping to represent. But she is a shoo-in since she has the full confidence of the left wingnut GR.
Had a Republican made a campaign announcement at a church GR would have been screaming from the hill tops that the Republican is a puppet for the moral majority / Christian Coalition. Shoe fits GR, go kick yourself with it.

She did not plan to make her announcement "at a church". The way I read it she made her announcement at the Democratic Annual Brunch. An event that has been going on for nearly 17 years and has happened at various sites throughout the city. This year it happened to be at Murray Universalist. When Governor Patrick made his "pre announcement" some years back it was at Brennan Middle School.

The newspaper had photos against a background and podium. It could have been anywhere. Deb used to complain at me for bringing religion into past discussions and there she goes and does it herself. Bill, why do you escalate with language like "wingnut." Seems to me you are struggling for something to hold against the candidate.
I think Sara-Lynn Reynolds is one smart, classy lady who would bring lots of talent to the post.
