Congressman Joe Kennedy III Introduces First Bill

Kennedy introduced the Peace Corps Commemoration Act on Thursday.

As part of Peace Corps Week 2013, U.S. Rep. Joe Kennedy III, whose 4th district includes Attleboro, on Thursday introduced his first bill as a congressman.

Kennedy introduced the Peace Corps Commemoration Act, which allows the Peace Corps to establish a "commemorative work" on federal land in Washington D.C., according to a press release issued by his office.

The Peace Corps was founded by Kennedy's great uncle, President John F. Kennedy, in 1961.

"At a time when the international community was fractured by the Cold War, the founding of the Peace Corps reminded America of the best it had to offer: service to others for the common cause of global peace, mutual understanding, prosperity and progress," said Kennedy, according to the press release. "Commemoratives in our nation's capital celebrate the seminal moments in American history. Given the lasting impact of the Peace Corps at home and abroad, it is fitting that its legacy be honored in Washington."

Kennedy served in the Corps from 2004 to 2006 in the Dominican Republic.

The legislation is cost-free, the press releases said, as the Peace Corps Commemorative Foundation will be responsible for financing the commemorative work.

He should never have been elected. What happened to his campaign promise of finding people jobs, that should be his priority.

“It” can only address what “it” understands. Which is very little? The word "job" is an illusive to him as he has never had a real one. He is just another in-bred Kennedy from the family tree of smugglers, alcoholics, drug addicts, and philanderers. Way to go Joe. Keep up the good work. Be sure not to do anything that would actually be relevant to our current problems. And shame on all you voters! You all knew his lack of qualifications. So, way to go Massachusetts democrats! To be fair I am sure Joe will mature as did his fore fathers once he finds his drug of choice and his favorite vice all will be well.

I am glad to see the Peace Corp commemorated. Way to go Joe! I like how you are digging into your work in the House and learning the ropes. I wish you well. I know you have a brain and the interest of your constiuents foremost in your mind. Never mind the haters who automatically hate you because of your family name. The cranks we will have with us always, I guess.

Never mind the Peace Corp. How about working on legislation that would give tax breaks to business and business owners (The 1 percenters) so that they can use the tax breaks for job creation. Congressman Kennedy doesn't have a clue about how the private sector works, he knows only public sector services. He votes just like the rest of the left wing wacko moonbats do..... Tax and spend and spend and spend......

Todd, methinks the shame is all yours. What venting and negativity!!

BTW If you don't have proof of an addiction then you are bearing false witness.
Be careful about making fallacious statements. You will lose credibility.
This is a young man who deserves a chance.
