A successful bake sale took place in front of Big Lots on Saturday to raise money for the future dog park in Attleboro. More than $400 was collected at the event, said Attleboro Dog Park Committee member Carol Ferraro.

Dog park enthusiasts received a huge boost recently when an anonymous party donated chain link fencing to surround the city-designated park area off Pond Street. Money is needed to pay for the posts, cement and installation.

"We are hoping that once we get the posts and cement that we will have some volunteers to do a sort of 'barn raising,'" Ferraro wrote in an email to Attleboro-Seekonk Patch.

The next fundraiser will take place in May at Level Acres Farm. A specific date will be determined soon.

How many posts do you still need to get, how tall, and how many bags of cement?

I didn't mention in he article about the two gates we need, which is an enormous expense, (as well as the 6 foot posts, renting a post hole digger, the cement and the labor needed to make this happen). We are getting closer to our goal every day, but we have a ways to go. Thanks for your support.

We should plan another bake sale soon! I've already got my recipes and ingredients lined up! and count me in for the "barn-raising!" -Diana
