Attleboro Woman Gets Stuck on T Tracks

A woman drives a vehicle onto the tracks early Monday morning in Brookline. She tells police she was looking at her GPS and not paying attention to the road.

An Attleboro woman's white sedan got stuck on the T tracks early Monday morning near the Coolidge Corner intersection of Harvard and Beacon Streets in Brookline. She was not injured in the incident.

The 22-year-old woman, who was not identified, told MBTA police that she had been looking at her GPS and not paying attention to the road when the device told her to turn left onto Beacon Street. She missed the road and started driving along the tracks—inbound. She said a passerby told her she was fine, and to keep going until the next intersection.

The driver reached a point where she couldn't move the car forward or backward, which is when Brookline and MBTA police arrived on the scene. The woman was cited with a left turn violation and impeded operation.

You've got to be kidding me!
Do people really rely so much on those things that they don't even look where they are turning?

There is and has been no left turn there so the GPS wouldn't have sent her that way. Also, it's highly unlikely a passerby said she was fine unless he was as drunk or clueless as she was.

"impeded operation." And that means what?
