Kevin Deschenes, longtime head coach of the Attleboro High School football team, resigned Thursday morning. School principal Bill Runey confirmed that Athletic Director Mark Houle accepted Deschenes' resignation and the coach told the news to the players.

"The AHS football program has benefited from coach Deschenes' passion, loyalty and integrity for many years," wrote Runey in an email to Attleboro Patch about the man who coached the team for 12 seasons. "He has left an indelible mark on our program. The Blue Pride Community is grateful for his service. As we partner with the city of Attleboro on the stadium renovation at Tozier Cassidy Field, we are excited about the next chapter of Blue Bombardier Football."

The Bombardiers ended a disappointing 2012 season Thanksgiving Day with a 38-14 loss to rival North Attleboro. The defeat was the seventh straight for Attleboro (4-7, 0-5 in league play), which had opened the season 4-0.
