Help Needed for Dog Park Setup

  • September 25, 2012

The long-awaited Attleboro Dog Park will soon be a reality, and organizers need community volunteers to help with the setup.

Constructing the dog park will be a three-step process—digging holes, placing poles where the holes have been dug and filled with cement, then finally putting a fence around the poles.

Step one is scheduled for this Sunday at 10 a.m. Volunteers are needed to assist with the digging of 82 holes with an auger.

"We are having an impromptu cookout of hot dogs that will be free to all helpers who show up; there will be water too," Attleboro Dog Park Committee co-Chair Carol Ferraro wrote in an email to Attleboro Patch.

The park site is located off Pond street, across the street from the animal shelter/compost area.

Look for more information Friday morning on Attleboro Patch about the dog park and how you can help with its construction.

So many people wanted this dog park so I am hoping that many of you show up to help at one of the days we need help. Please let the folks at the dog park if you plan on coming so that they can get a count on how many hot dogs are needed. You can send a message/comment on their Facebook page. I cannot wait to finally get started on this project. Thank you to everyone who donated, bought baked goods, came to meetings and supported us. We never gave up and it really is going to happen - Soon.

Unfortunately this Sunday I have to go to a birthday party in Chelmsford, Ma. However if you keep me informed I will be happy to help. I am the owner of a Sibe and he loves the "dog park" at Slater Park. Of course I would prefer to keep him home in Attleboro.. So please let me know what the construction schedule will be.
